    Maje sure you harvest them before they bloom. If the big yellow flower is already there, it's too late. The greens will taste bitter. They have a great meaty taste.

    We'd put vinegar in them -- LOL. Now, of course, I'd use lemon juice.

    I too dug them up when I was a child and my grandmother cooked them for us.
